China - DPRK
Historically, China and the DPRK have been close diplomatically. During the Korean War, China supported the North Korean military. During the Cold War, the nation was strongly supported by both China and the Soviet Union. Between Mao Zedong and the Kim dynasty, there has always been a strong bond. In fact, even when economic sanctions from the West barraged the North Korean economy, it was trade with the Chinese that saved the North Korean ship from completely sinking. According to a BBC World Service Poll, it has been found that 20% of the Chinese population have good outlook on North Korea.
